  Absolutely nothing.

  This is not a hotel, it is a hostel. It was dirty, smelly and very very basic. For the cost of $180 incl taxes a night it is nothing short of a rip off!

  Location was terrific - access to Stanley Park, running the sea wall, shopping and visiting downtown. The restaurant was great - reasonable prices, good food, and great view of Kits and the ocean.

  No there wasn't anything we didn't like about the hotel.

  The colours of the carpets and walls in corridors and even the restaurant . are uninviting,on the gloomy side. A coordination of more neutral shades would not take away the tradition...

  The oldest hotel in Vancouver....updated nicely....quaint, peaceful hotel. Staff was very helpful, courteous, excellent food and waiters in restaurant. Exceedingly beautiful waterfront.

  We enjoyed the location and the food at the hotel's spacious restaurant. It's an old hotel, and we found the ambiance delightful, the fifteen-minute visit from a seagull on our window ledge a good photo opportunity and the view of English Bay cannot be easily beaten.

  The floor-level indicator in one of the two elevators servicing the 8 floors is stuck at "5". Has anybody noticed?

  The room was really small and very dated. Tiny television set, old furniture, sort of staying at your grandmother's house--not in a good way.

  Very comfortable, friendly staff, price for food and service was of value, complimentary internet was excellent and easy to use. View fantastic, good bar and food service.

  The location on English Bay is hard to beat, the value is superb and the hotel is an icon in Vancouver in terms of it's heritage status

  The lounge and bar could be better. The pub food in the bar at night is abominable

  The quiet atmosphere - you felt like you were the only one in the hotel; the clean rooms and nicely refurbished. I appreciated that there were no newspapers at the door every morning - waste of paper. The staff were extremely polite and helpful. The service in the restaurant was very good and the dollar value of room service cannot be surpassed. I would return to the Sylvia without hesitation - close enough to everything but away from the rush of downtown.

  An old building, but stylishly done, with plenty of space in my room. While not all up-to-date fixtures, etc., in the room, it was pleasant and quiet, and had a gret view into the West End of Vancouver and over to Englsh Bay.

  Good location at the English bay near the Stanley Park - stylish old hotel with charm. Good breakfast in nice location.

  The hotel location was the best for the money. The hotel had a convenient garage and did not have a valet rushing to take our bags.

  The restaurant food was terrible. No shampoo in the bathrooms was poor. Standard room was very tight as was the bathroom. Location made the difference only. I would recommend the hotel to anyone who wants the location and not fussy about the room or amenities.

  It's Centrality and position by the water with good Access to the Parks and wild life( animals) The staff were so helpful and kind.
